What are Keshi Pearls?

Keshi pearls are a genuine happy accident of pearl farming — formed when an oyster rejects or expels its bead nucleus during the culturing process, yet continues to produce nacre around the irritation regardless. The result is a pearl made of pure, solid nacre with no bead at its centre, often in wonderfully irregular, petal-like or freeform shapes found nowhere else in the pearl world. Because they're entirely nacre, keshi pearls tend to have an exceptional lustre — a deep, almost liquid shine that rounder, nucleated pearls rarely match.
