Lampwork is one of the oldest glassworking techniques still practised today, where a glass rod is melted over an open flame and wound, shaped, and layered by hand around a metal mandrel to form a bead. The spiral pattern on this bead is created by winding different coloured glass together while still molten, a slow, skilled process that means every lampwork bead carries its own unique swirl and colour variation — no two are ever quite the same.
